Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of our
organization. Over 115 individuals volunteer on a regular basis. Some of
our needs are:
-
Willing drivers to pick up donations at
local area merchants, weekday mornings or afternoons (vehicle provided or you may use
your own)
-
Dedicated staff to
sort and shelve food, fill orders, and assist clients Tuesday, Thursday,
or Saturday mornings, 8:15 AM to 1:15 PM; and Thursday evenings from 5:15 PM to 8:30 PM.
-
Organized individuals to re-stock shelves
Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
-
Creative individuals to deal with
correspondence, write grant applications, press releases, and find new
ways to publicize pantry needs and events.
-
Bilingual persons to translate for our
Spanish clients.
-
Celebrating individuals to prepare birthday
party boxes for children (supplies provided).
-
Helpful individuals to assist clients in
applying for food stamps.
- Efficient people to do clerical work (should have experience with
Microsoft Word, Access and Excel). Some opportunities exist for work at
home.
The West Suburban Community Pantry serves over 3,100
local residents per month who meet Federal Income Guidelines.
Volunteers donated 17,770 hours in fiscal year 2010.
According to
