Whether you are looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity for a group or an ongoing opportunity for yourself, we have an array of volunteer opportunities available. PLEASE NOTE: The Pantry no longer participates in the court-ordered community service hours program.

 

West Suburban Community Pantry Volunteers

Volunteers donated 30,474 hours in fiscal year 2012. According to Independent Sector research on the real value of volunteer time, those hours are worth $693,893 to the Pantry.

Over 150 individuals volunteer on a regular basis. Some of our needs are:

  • Assist clients Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday mornings, 8:15 AM to 12:15 PM
    Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM
    Thursday evenings from 5:15 PM to 8:30 PM

  • Re-stock shelves Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons, between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM.

  • Clerical work (should have experience with Microsoft Word, Access and Excel). Some opportunities exist for work at home.

  • Special talents: translation (especially Spanish), grant writing, event planning, publicity
