Spotlight on Hunger

Spotlight on Hunger

Pete Schafer "The latest statistics report that there are over 95,000 people in DuPage County that are food insecure and over half of them are children”, said Pete Schafer, CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank. Northern Illinois Food Bank also reported that federal commodities available to area food pantries would be reduced by at least fifty percent this year.

  Community Awareness

Community awareness is a key factor in the fight against hunger. The public is invited to join local government officials, church leaders, and representatives from food pantries to learn more about current statistics and what individuals can do to help end hunger. The free hour long symposium will include continental breakfast and a Q&A session.
